九年前，杰西（ 伊桑・霍克 ）与席琳（朱莉・德尔佩）在火车上不期而遇，怦然心动。在维也纳渡过疯狂而又浪漫的一夜后，他们在日出前分手，并相约在维也纳重逢。九年后，杰西已成为畅销书作家，而席琳则是法国环保组织成员。杰西在新书里娓娓道来的，正是九年前的浪漫夜晚。在巴黎促销新书时，杰西与席琳在书店相遇，然而他们只有一下午的时光相处，日落之前，杰西要乘飞机赶回美国。两人在午后的巴黎街头散步，在美丽的护城河上泛舟，无所不谈，兴致勃勃。可是就像命运的捉弄，快乐的时光像烟花一样醉人却短暂。

九年之后再见，已经是Before Sunset的故事了。Jesse以那一次的偶遇写了一本书，因着签名售书来到巴黎，得以和读了他书的Celine重逢。这一次Jesse得赶傍晚的飞机，短短的一个多小时里，他们谈论各自的生活，乃至面对自己的感情，吐露各自的心声。他们开始掩饰，试探，到无法克制，宣泄，直到后来平静，一切都自然真实。九年后的两人，相比之下，都有了岁月的痕迹。Jesse有了婚姻和孩子，成熟稳重。Celine做着自己热爱的事业而自信，虽然经历了感情的波折，却不失天真，身上有一种女人和女孩混合的魅力。
这两部电影几乎没有情节，基本是两个人在对话，以及两个人细微的身体语言，但是许多人都很喜欢，我也是其中之一。也许这两部电影真实而细腻，像一面镜子，折射出许多人生命中的那段爱情，也同时折射出许多人生命里的无奈。

People just have an affair, or even entire relationships, they break up and they forget. They move on like the would have changed brand of cereals. I feel I was never able to forget anyone I've been with, because each person had their own specific qualities. You can never replace anyone. What is lost is lost. Each relationship, when it ends, really damages me. I never fully recover. That's why I'm very careful with getting involved because....it hurts to much. Even getting laid, I actually don't do that. I will miss of the person the most mundane things. Like I'mObsessedwith little things. Maybe I'm crazy, but when I was a little girl, my mom told me that I was always late to school. One day, she followed me to see why. I was looking at chestnuts falling from the trees, rolling on the sidewalk, or, ants crossing the road, the way a leaf casts a shadow on a tree trunk. Little things....I think it's the same with people.I see in them little details, so specific to each of them that move me and that I miss and....will always miss. You can never replace anyone because everyone is made of such beautiful, specific details......Like, I remember the way your beard has a bit of red in it, and how the sun was making it glow that, that morning right before you left....I remember that, and I missed it.
