Titanic is a 1997 American epicromance anddisaster filmdirected, written, co-produced, and co-edited by James Cameron. Itstars LeonardoDiCaprio as Jack Dawson, Kate Winslet asRose DeWittBukater. Jack and Rose are members of different social classeswho fall in love aboard the ship during its ill-fated maidenvoyage.
The film was the mostexpensive film ever made, with an estimated budget of $200million.
Upon its release on December 19, 1997,the filmachieved critical and commercial success. It equaled records withfourteen Academy Awardnominations and eleven Oscar wins, receiving the prizes forBestPicture and BestDirector. With a worldwide gross of over $1.8 billion, it wasthe first film to reach the billion dollar mark, remainingthehighest-grossing film of all time for twelve years, untilCameron's next directorial effort, Avatar,surpassed it in 2010. Titanic is also ranked as the sixthbest epic film of all time. And after 2012 Cameron will completeits conversion into 3-D.
Plot 情节
In 1996, one hunter team explore the wreck of theRMS Titanic, searching for a necklace called the Heart of theOcean. An old woman recalls her memories aboard theTitanic, revealing that she is Rose, and has that Heart of theOcean.
In 1912, 17-year-old passenger Rose boards theship-- Titanic ,called 'unsinkable' luxury liner inEngland with her future husband. Rose doesn’t like his futurehusband and considers suicide by jumping off the ship. Before sheleaps, a guy named Jack intervenes and persuades her not to jumpand saved her.
By the next day’s evening, the Titanic took a severe blow froman iceberg. Two hours and forty minitus later,the Titanic sanked.More than 1,500 people perished, or died, in the disaster.
At the end, Jack manages to save Rose, but he hasdied from snaked.
