The major reason is our concern about itsdestruction of the precious friendship. However, in the case thatmy friend may make a mistake, I will definitely fulfill my duty towarn him/her of the adverse situation.
First, Ithink that is what a real friend must do. I can sacrifice for myfriends, even the cost is our friendship, as long as it providesthem with the optimal situation. Therefore, taking the risk ofdestruction of friendship is worthy. For instance, when I was inmiddle school, one of my best friends, with whom we playedbasketball every day, developed a habit of smoking. He might thinkit was very cool and a symbol of being mature. However, I knew thiswould make an adverse effect on his growth. Obviously, smoking isharmful to his health and also it may lead him to a wrong way whichmay ruin his life. So, I told him of my opinion and advised him ofstopping smoking although he was apparently unhappy to hear that.But as what I have said, that is what a true friend shoulddo.
Moreover,I am a person who prefers direct way than an indirect way. I oftenask my friend to tell me their genuine thoughts in order to makeour relationship simpler. Because it is such a boring and complexthing to guess other people's opinions. Hiding your heart to yourfriends is not a good approach to maintain a friendship in a longterm, as the dissent accumulates more and more, it will finallyexplode one day. When that happens, it is already too late to makecompensation. In the same way, as mistakes accumulated, it willlead to a disastrous circumference. That is to say, in a longperiod of time, you are actually ruining yourfriends.
Last butnot the least, good communication will possibly bring it to thebest situation. Both your friend cognize his/her mistake and thefriendship perpetuates. As the example I give in the formerparagraph, it did take some time for my friend to acknowledge themistake, but he gave up on smoking after several weeks. Also, hetrusted me further than before.
Inconclusion, never hesitate to tell your friends they are doingsomething wrong, with effective social skills, your friends willultimately choose to follow your suggestions and it will alsopromote your friendship more stable.
