50年代，Tina与Chess音乐厂牌著名乐师出身的Ike Turner因音乐而结缘，60年代，两人正式组成Ike& Tina Turner，以"River Deep MountainHigh"等节奏蓝调灵魂曲风歌曲在英国乐界崭露头角，还应邀担任The Rolling Stones演唱会的开场艺人。
70年代初期以"ProudMary"勇夺葛莱美奖，但是，在还算差强人意的音乐生涯背后却隐藏着家庭暴力阴影，有着毒瘾与酗酒恶习的Ike经常对对Tina施予暴力，1968年时，Tina一度因受不了Ike的家庭暴力，而动过自杀的念头，幸好，Tina在70年代初期开始信奉佛教，让她得以熬过痛苦的婚姻生活。
1976年，Tina带着36美分和一张加油站信用卡离开Ike，虽然靠着驻唱赚钱，但因场子实在少得可怜，开始过着以粮票度日的生活，78年，Tina与Ike正式离婚，70年代期间，Tina发表过两张专辑，专辑销售不甚理想。80年代初期，Tina应邀为RodStewart的全球巡回演唱担任暖场。
83年，Tina与Capitol音乐厂牌签约，Tina的摇滚旅程终于大放异采，艰辛的摇滚人生终于在此时终结，84年发行的专辑「PrivateDancer」被乐坛喻为史上最成功的东山再起之作，Tina多年来的情感重担透过她那深具灵魂乐的爆发力唱腔倾泻而出，塑造出一种别具个人特色的摇滚/灵魂乐风格，专辑连创"What'sLove Got To Do With It"、"Better Be Good To Me"、"PrivateDancer"、"Let's Stay Together"等4首英美TOP10单曲，全球累积销售冲破1100万张，并在85年的葛莱美奖典礼上一口气抢下年度歌曲、年度唱片、最佳流行女歌手与最佳摇滚女歌手等4项大奖。85年，Tina与梅尔吉勃逊合演冒险动作片「冲锋飞车队2」，不但飙出亮眼票房，也以片中的两首单曲"WeDon't Need Another Hero "、"One Of TheLiving"持续延伸排行气势。
86年，Tina继续以专辑「Break Every Rules」横扫英、美排行TOP 5，专辑中的单曲"TypicalMale"也攻占全美排行亚军，尝到甜蜜果实的Tina也在此时成为葛莱美奖宠爱的对象，分别在86、87、89三年抱走最佳摇滚女歌手奖。89年，Tina以专辑「ForeignAffair」抢下生平首张英国金榜冠军大碟荣耀，并连推"The Best"、"I Don't Wanna Lose You"两首TOP10单曲。90年代，Tina Turner的音乐版图逐渐往欧洲移动，专辑多能拼出排行佳绩，91年，精选专辑「Simply TheBest」坐上英国金榜亚军，
1993年Disney公司根据Tina的自传《I Tina》将Tina颇具传奇性的一生搬上银幕。就有这部名为What's LoveGot to Do with It的电影。
而这张电影原声专辑也理所当然的拿下了英国金榜的冠军。
95年Tina为007系列影片《黄金眼》配唱的同名主题曲《Goldeneye》也被奉为经典。为电影增色不少。
