坐落在艾奥瓦城(Iowa City)的艾奥瓦大学以其包括国际写作班(International WritingProgram)在内的创作艺术、医学、法律、社会及行为学、空间物理学和古生物学见长。近5年来,来自中国的本科生的入学人数猛增,增幅超过了1700%。坐落在艾姆斯(Ames)的艾奥瓦州立大学以农业、工程、家政学、物理学、电脑技术和兽医学见长。自2007年以来,中国学生的入学人数增加了将近700%。
这两所大学的中文项目都颇具规模。学习中文的学生在艾奥瓦大学超过了240人,在艾奥瓦州立大学超过了170人。

The University of Iowawelcomed 1,737 students from China in fall2011;ISUenrolled1,849.Each school has an international enrollmentof about 3,400 students (out of 30,000 on each campus).
Chinese students are studying at Iowa’s two largest publicuniversities in record numbers. The University of Iowa welcomed1,737 students from China in fall 2011 — halfitsinternational student population.The numbers aresimilar at Iowa State University (ISU), which enrolled 1,849Chinese students (54 percent of all internationalstudents).Each school has an enrollment of about30,000, and international students make up 11 percent of eachcampus.
The University ofIowa, located in Iowa City, is known for the creative arts —including its International Writing Program — medicine, law,social and behav ioral sciences, space physics andpaleontology.In the past five years, theenrollmentofChineseundergraduate students has soared by more than 1700 percent. ISU —in Ames, Iowa —has outstanding programs inagriculture, engineering, home economics, physical sciences,computer technology and veterinary medicine. Chinese enrollment isup by nearly 700 percent since 2007.
Both schools have significant Chinese-languageprograms.More than 240 students at the Universityof Iowa and 170 at Iowa State University studyChinese.
