A talent isa naturally recurring pattern of though, feeling, or behavior thatcan be productively applied. A great number of talents naturallyexist within you , and each of them is very specific.
Yourspecific set of talents is a major part of what makes you a uniqueperson, and that uniqueness holds great value for you and thosearound you.

What is atheme(of StrengthsFinder)? Essentially, it is a group of similartalents.
As a resultof studying top achievers for more than three decades, Gallup wasable to identify more than 400 themes of talent? The 34 mostprevalent themes are measured by StrengthsFinder.

首先,Gallup研究的是企业界、社会各界,不是学生。所以,这些themes可能不是与学习相关的,而是与工作、人生相关的。尽管StrengthsQuest强调了这些theme在academicstrengths的作用,也只是强调了其在大学学习的作业。
第二,prevalent不能说明每一个人的特殊性。
第三,这个SF需要相当强的反思能力,对于反思能力不强的人,问卷可能无意义。
第四,现在的SF没有说明每一theme的程度,而即使同一theme的天赋,程度不同,作用也不同,起作用方法也不同。所以,应用雷达图形式呈现theme结果。
第五,所有theme中,没有一个theme强调对外在环境的充分利用这一talent。而实际上这个strengthsmovement本身就是一种促进个人改变的外在力量,本身就是试图通过这一外在的运动,这一外在的研究成果,促进个人的改变。而且,充分利用外在环境因素,本身也肯定是我们常用的一项talent。
所以,对于中国学生,应该以此为基础,设计新的、专门SF。
正如Schreiner教授所讲,这些表述优势的词语只是给了我们一种交流的语言,其明确的界定,使我们知道彼此是在同一个意义下描述一种优势,并非完全准确、科学。

其实,我们是可以发展我们不是Top5的theme(其实Clifton的说法是Signature Themes)的,因为 我们可以通过more energy,knowledge and skill是不是Top 5的talent也得到发展,成为strength,但这比我们发展我们的Top5需要花费更多的能量、需要更多的知识和技能,这可能得不偿失。所以,我们还是应该首先集中精力发展Top 5.
这Top5不一定要5项,可以是3项,5项有些相互牵扯,而且有很多是近似的。
这Top3其实更应该称之为Dominant 3,或者Your Decisive 3Talents(你具有决定性意义的三项先天才能)。
