氨纶纤维是具有高断裂伸长(400％以上 )、低模量和高弹性回复率的合成纤维。氨纶具有高延伸性(500％～700％)、低弹性模量(200％伸长，0.04～0.12克／旦）和高弹性回复率（200％伸长，95％～99％）。除强度较大外，其他物理机械性能与天然乳胶丝十分相似。它比乳胶丝更耐化学降解，具有中等的热稳定性，软化温度约在200℃以上。
