爱华网The fourth successfultest of hypersonic glide vehicle – which the UShas dubbed the “Wu-14″ – wascarried out on Sunday. It was the People Liberation Army’s fourthtest of the weapon in 18 months.
中国国防部证实进行了超音速核弹头运载工具的试验，此举被美国形容为南海紧张局势中的极限操纵。
高超音速飞行器的第四次试验——美国称这种飞行器为wu-14——是在周日展开的。这是解放军18个月内进行的第四次同类试验。
“The scheduledscientific research and experiments in our territory is normal， andthose tests are not targeted at any country and specific goals，”Hong Kong-based South China Morning Post quoted the defenceministry as saying.
But militaryobservers said the frequency of the tests showed Beijing wasreinforcing its nuclear deterrent in response to Washington’scontinued interference in China’s territorial disputes in theregion， the Post reported.
香港《南华早报》在报道中引述国防部的话，“我们在境内按计划进行的科研试验是正常的，这些试验不针对任何国家和特定目标。”
报道称，然而有军事观察家表示，试验的频率表明，为了应对华盛顿持续干涉中国的领土争端，北京正在加强核威慑能力。
US website theWashington Free Beacon， which first reported about the test， saidthe new strike vehicle is considered a high-technology strategicweapon capable of delivering nuclear or conventional warheads whiletravelling on the edge of space.
One of its keyfeatures is the ability to manoeuvre to avoid US missile defences，it said.
The Wu-14 wasassessed as travelling up to 10 times the speed of sound， or around7，680 miles per hour， it said.
美国网站华盛顿自由灯塔第一个报道了该试验，称新的打击飞行器被视为高科技战略武器，有能力运载核弹头和常规弹头。
其中一个主要特征是具备规避美国导弹防御系统的机动能力。
据评估，Wu-14的速度能达到音速的10倍，也就是大约每小时7680英里。
