蒹葭苍苍，白露为霜。

第一种，许渊冲译本
The reed
Green, green the reed,
Dew and frost gleam.
Where’s she I need?
Beyond the stream.
Upstream I go, the way is long.
Downstream I go, She’s there among.
White, white the reed,
Dew not yet dried.
Where’s she I need?
On the other side.
Upstream I go,
Hard is the way.

第二种：杨宪益、戴乃迭译本
The reeds

查了几个的英译本，但都说第一种为杨戴译，这是不对的。
这里有几个比较：
1.许渊冲的译本韵律强，押尾韵（rhymed），而且green，white，bright的重复（repetition）具有使画面活灵活现的效果，读这个译本不费劲而且仿佛看到清晨露珠清透晶莹，朦胧中看到伊人，追寻伊人的画面。杨戴只是对诗歌的意思进行了翻译，不能说不好，可是，用luxuriant来形容景色宜人，清晨带着露珠的蒹葭茂密繁盛，不是那么贴切。
2.对伊人的理解：前者译为she，后者译为he。就原文来说，伊人象征美好的人或者事物。亘古至今，伊人大多数指美女，人们也都钟情于美女形态优美，温婉尔雅的形象。以我个人看，用she既指代了美女，还能用美女暗喻美好的事物。有人说古时存在女追男的情况，he包含范围更广，但是女追男毕竟是少数吧（ps：女追男让我想起潘安、宋玉得有多少女人追呢？）
总结：
许教授是我国将中国历代诗词译成英、法韵文的惟一专家。1999年被提名为诺贝尔文学奖候选人。韵文诗歌（versepoetry）翻译难度很大，往往顾韵律不顾意义，顾意义又顾不上韵律，蒹葭的英译本有很多，但是真正能翻译出原文韵味的我认为仅许教授这一种。
