Flying kite isone of my favorite outdoor activities (games when I was a child)all year around except in winter days. When I was 8 years old, mygrandpa made a cute kite in the shape of a swift for me. I liked itvery much because it was my first kite and in the whole spring ofthat year I almost went flying it every week end with mygrandpa.
At first, I was very clumsy['klʌmzɪ] to operate it well. It couldnot fly very smoothly and very high, but even this could satisfy mea lot, a person never flied kite. 2 weeks later after tried andfailed several times I could fly it perfectly. This really broughtme a lot fun. And now I can fly it very well, and by doing it Iactually got enough exercises for my body and adequate touch to thenature. Actually, this is the real fun and feature of this kind ofoutdoor activity (games). It is not that laborious, and you alwaysdo it at perfect places with lake, lawn, breeze, sunshine, you nameit.
Flying kite has a specialcultural meaning in China. Every year we will fly a brand new one,and on its last sailing, we cut the threat and let it go with thewind, for we believe that kite can not be kept for next year, whichwould be considered unlucky, and the flying away ones as my grandpasaid will take wishes to our ancestors ['ænsestə] of one family and bless the dreams tobe true.

Last summer, I was invited to attend aphotographic exhibition of a Swedish photographer in a private artgallery. At the hall of this gallery I saw an impressive photohanging on the wall.
In the photo I saw an old ladyfrom Tibet, which you can tell by her clothes and accessories[æk'sɛsəri]. It is a photo of theportrai['pɔːtrɪt] of this old lady, soyou could see no background in it. It is a black-white photograph,no bright colour made this lady in the photo very quiet andprofound. You could see this lady must have been going through atough life in Tibet, cause a lot of wrinkles and chap on her faceand hands. You also can find the years trace on her face to tellyou that she must have been a person with a lot ofexperience.
The most amazing thing in thisphoto was the eyes of this old lady. What a gorgeous eyes she had.Having been through so much in times, this old lady still had pureeyes, as clean as infants ['ɪnf(ə)nt]have. Your attention definitely would be drawn by this pair ofsparkling ['spɑːk(ə)lɪŋ] eyes. To behonest, I only had seen eyes like hers on newly-born babies. Byseeing this you will have curiosity [kjʊərɪ'ɒsɪtɪ] to dig out the reason why she hadso beautiful and pure eyes at her age and try to know more aboutthis lady and the living place ofher.

Actually, asstudents we are required to wear the school uniforms each day atschool. Everyone looks the same to a great extent. No one'sspecial. So after a while, we all have the similar physicalfeatures. Baggy ['bægɪ] pants, oversized jackets, and big glasses on our faces, but any chance we canget, we will wear something different to show our desire offashion.
I have areally nice dress. My mum and I found it at an elegant shoppingmall, which was stunning in the store window. It is a pink dresswith a black leather belt, which is neither too fancy nor tooformal. It boasts an graceful cutting style with a U-neckshape.
Somehow, itreminds me of a typical Chanel dress. My mum said it might be toomature for my age, but I believe it is OK. I think I am too eagerto be an adult, so wearing a dress that pretty could significantlyimprove my confidence as a 18-yearold young person. Besides, thecolor was perfect for my skin tone.
I wear thisdress for any formal occasions in my daily life, birthday parties,ceremonies at school. Actually, a look is never finished withoutthe right accessories[æk'sɛsəri]. I oftenchoose to wear a
pearl[pɜːl] necklace and a really nicepair of beige[beɪʒ] leather shoes tomatch this dress. Not surprisingly, I frequently get more than myfair share of compliments when I wear likethis.

My cousin is definitely a good parent. I thinkshe is a model parent—patient, knowledgeable, and the mostimportant one is full of love. She was a few years older than meand now her son, my nephew ['nefju:], wasin fifth grade. I couldn’t imagine how fast the boy has grown.Sheis very patient with her son. She’s not like some parents who wouldyell at the children when they do something wrong. She always triesher best to reason with her son and help him understand right fromwrong. She even sacrificed her career—she quit her job after shehad her baby because she believes that spending time with her sonis the most important thing in her life. Because of her love andtime poured on the child, now my nephew has grown to be a very niceand healthy boy, both physically and mentally.I think a good parentis very important for children development, which could help themto feel secure and know how to behave themselves even when nobodyis watching them. He looks serious but actually he is an amiable ['eɪmɪəb(ə)l] teacher. He likes sharing his storywith us in the class. What is interesting is that he always forgetto continue his class as he focus on chatting with us. Anotherthing I find interesting is that he likes wearing stylish clothessuch as some colorful clothes and fashionable sunglasses, butactually it looks a little strange on him. He told me he didn'tcare what others think, he just live with passion.

caused him health problems. He had a stroke and heart problems. Hemade plans to lose weigh and followed his plan strictly. After alittle while he completely abandoned all fatty foods and sweets. Helowered his portions of food considerably, and avoided a lot ofcarbohydrates [kɑːbə'haɪdreɪt] andother things like that, he even quitted his favorite alcohol. Inthe end he did it.

Chemistry is a really interesting subject, in which we research anddeal with the changes in matters and as result of which it ispossible to form new substance. When I was in high school I lookedforward to having chemical experiment to witness this formationprocess.
I still remember my firstchemical experiment lesson I had in junior three middle school. Toa kid of 15 years old that lesson was impressive and a little bitdangerous as I recall it now. On that lesson, our chemical teacherrequired us to generate some hydrogen by putting zinc intohydrochloric acid and then ignite the hydrogen we produce to seethe violet flame.I did every step as the teacher told me to do, andsuccessfully saw the beautiful flame. My major is Food Science andtechnology. Chemistry is the basic subject of mymajor.......
