Today, both students and parents are suffering from excessive homework. However, while the government is trying to relieve students'burden, some parents complain about the small amount of homeworkand ask for more.
Personally, I don't think the function ofhomework can be ignored. Homework is a means for teachers to findout whether or not their students understand the lessons. What'smore, practice makes perfect. The more questions they practice, theless painful they feel during exams. To some extent minimizing theamount of homework may encourage students to belazy.
However, excessive homework is harmful: Students cannot enjoy their leisuretime which is occupied by countless assignments and sometimes theyhave to copy homework from each other in order to finish it ontime. All work and no play makes John a dull boy. Students shouldhave more time for leisure activities like reading andsports.
Onbalance, homework is becessary but the amount must not be a burdenfor students.
