temporary、transient
这两个词都有“短暂的”、“临时的”的意思，
temporary “暂时的”、“临时的”， 是permanent 的反义词。
1）I’m not quite acquainted with the procedure, because I’m only atemporary
substitute for Miss Green in her absence.
我不太熟悉的程序，因为我只是在格林小姐缺席时临时代替她的。
2）The doctor says we can only expect a temporaryimprovement in his condition.

transient“短暂的”、“转瞬即逝的”，指停留或延续的时间很短促。
